If you’re visiting with children, this is certainly a unique day out: a boat trip to an island fortress like Alcatraz - exploring this unforgettable monument is a trip that’s sure to create lasting memories whatever your age.

For children aged 0 to 6:

• Yes, you can visit the Château du Taureau with a baby.

Bring a sling-style baby carrier, as there are several steps, so a pushchair isn’t the best choice!

Once at the fortress, you’ll find a baby-changing station as well as a microwave for reheating a baby bottle or baby food.

At the giftshop, you’ll also find snacks that will please every age group.

• For younger children, there are various activities on offer

To encourage children to explore the Château du Taureau in a fun, simple way, you can download and print our games booklet, which is packed with puzzles, games and colouring pages (in French).

We also offer a simple guide book in French, the Livret de visite FALC. It explains in simple terms how the fortress worked.

• For children aged 6 to 12:

The Château has been cursed! Hurry, its future is in your hands! Explore the Château, head off in search of clues and try to break the spell. • For children aged 12 and over:

If you’re ready for the challenge, you can get to the Château du Taureau by kayak, paddleboard or sailboat. Set sail from Carantec, Térénez or another point on the shore, head out into the bay and enjoy the peaceful landscapes that are unlike any other, before stopping off at the fortress. It’s a whole other way to enjoy the bay! Both a sports activity and a cultural excursion, this is one trip that’s sure to please teenagers and parents alike.
